Marian Council makes worldwide impact

Bloomington, MN – The Marian Council 3827 of Bloomington, MN organized an event called “Networking for a Cause”, where a group of people got together to go and help feed the hungry at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) who are a non-profit Christian based organization headquartered in Coon Rapids, MN. FMSC are dedicated to feeding God’s children in 70 countries around the world. During the evening the 51 brother knights and their families, were able to pack 7,992 meals, into 37 boxes, and feed 22 kids in Kenya for an entire year. All this was done with the hands, feet, and love of the 51 people that showed up to hand pack and box meals specifically made for the under nourished children of Kenya. Marian Council 3827 program chair Jason Touw said “We based the idea of the event around the fact that one of our main pillars of the Knights of Columbus is charity, what better way to give than feed the hungry of our world, just like Jesus did with the loaves and fishes in the bible.” The event was done in two parts, part one 17 of the attendees joined each other at the Knights of Columbus hall in Bloomington for an all you can eat fish fry and fellowship. Part two everyone re-assembled at Feed My Starving Children to help feed the hungry children. “We plan to host this event on a regular basis perhaps once every other month to start, but eventually, I would like to see us hosting it on a more regular basis” Touw stated.

The Marian Council 3827 also has listed on their calendar their next visit to Feed My Starving Children on Friday September 20th, 2013. If you are interested in learning more about the Marian Council or the Knights of Columbus please visit www.kofcbloomington.com.

Bloomington, Minnesota – The Marian Council of the Knights of Columbus declares today that Charles Hendricks is our April 2013 Knight of the Month.

Sir Knight Charles Hendricks receiving his April 2013 Knight of the Month Award.

He has been a loyal member of the Knights of Columbus since his initiation on March 25, 1956, for a total of 57 years.  He has been a member of the Marian Council for 52 of the 57 years.  He also has been a member of the 4th Degree for about 48 years.  He was designated an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus on April, 1, 1981 and has continued to be a member ever since.  His present wife, Patricia, was the president of the Marian Council Ladies Auxiliary during 1966 -1967.

Charlie was a barber most of his life and owned his own shop.  I’m told, he loved to bowl and, for much of his life, has been an avid hunter and fisherman.  He is a Minnesotan by birth and also by heart.

We, at the Knights of Columbus, love Charlie and on this day wish him good health and continued life among us.

On behalf of the Marian Council, No. 3827, Knights of Columbus,

Best Fish Fry in Town

On March 22, 2013 from 4:30 to 9pm the Bloomington Knights of Columbus hosted their Fish Fry at the hall. This isn’t the first time that they have done this event, in fact they host one every week and its not just one plate of fish its all you can eat. Believe it or not the cost is only $10.95 per person. What was incredible about the event is how many people came through the hall doors to partake in the evening. In fact there was so many people that some even left because of the 30+ minute wait. For more information on the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry and all of their events be sure to visit www.kofcbloomington.com/ourevents.

Here are a few photos from the wonderful evening at the hall.
