The Catholic Church in Minnesota Prior to 1900

Our Lecturers program on Thursday, October 25, 2012 was Jefferson Spilman, a 3rd Degree Knight, member of our Marian Council Knights of Columbus, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and a member of the Pastoral Council.

He is an Eucharistic Minister and resides in Richfield, MN.  Jefferson is a St. Paul Native and his father is a newly ordained Deacon in New Ulm Diocese (April 2012).  He is currently employed by Three Rivers Park District at The Landing (formerly Historic Murphy’s Landing), Shakopee, MN.  Jefferson is married to Annette Spilman (10 years as of October 19, 2012).

*    Brief Overview of Roman Catholics in Minnesota area 1600-1800
*    Overview of Roman Catholic Church in Minnesota area 1800-1890
*    Slides of 19th century historic buildings (owned by Three Rivers Park District) whose owners were Roman Catholics
*    Site of buildings includes: The Landing, Carver Park Reserve, Lake Minnetonka Regional Park, Elm Creek Park Reserve
