2013 Spring Message

Dear Fellow Knights:

Easter greetings!  Yes, as we begin the month of May we still find ourselves in the Easter season — in fact, our “50-day” party does not end until the feast of Pentecost on May 19th.  Clearly the Church is making a statement here as to the importance of the Easter celebration.  We are to carry forth the Good News of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ into our world. Alleluia! Alleluia!

How?  This is the obvious question.  In fact, this is the question that every baptized Christian must embrace regardless of the role we have within the Church.  We should all give thanks that we are not alone in managing this responsibility; rather, this is one of the benefits of belonging to the Church.  Together we can and do make a difference within the world.  The adage “many hands make light work” is most fitting in this situation.

As members of the Knights of Columbus we are committed to assisting the Catholic Church in its good work.  How blessed we are that our mission and ministry is so clear! In other words, if you are struggling with answering “how” you are personally managing this responsibility to evangelize the Good News of Jesus Christ, then rejoice in that both the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus offer all of us a plethora of opportunities.  All we need to do is choose and then get involved.

I pray that as we move into the spring and summer seasons that we will not lose sight of our personal responsibility to build the kingdom here on earth.  Together we will continue the good work Jesus has given each of us.  May God bless our effort.

Easter peace,

Fr. Brian Fier
